Detox Diary - Day 7

Detox Over?

I’ve done it! A whole week of detox…I’d like to say ‘what a relief’ but it hasn’t actually been that painful. What I’ve realised is that we pack so much crap into our bodies and it’s not until we eat properly that we realise just how terrible it is to overindulge in the wrong foods. I guess the moral of the story is that you need to love your body and feed it with delicious, healthy foods and allow yourself a little treat from time to time. Eating healthily doesn’t have to mean boring food so remember to spice up your cooking with some of the healthy recipes and meals mentioned throughout the detox. I've decided to keep going and make sure I eat healthy meals during the week and allow myself an indulgence at the weekend... after all you still need to live!

Loving your body also means caring for your hair and skin so don’t forget that your skin absorbs whatever you put on it. Scrimping on decent skincare products will result in putting back some of those toxins you’ve removed on your detox. Most high street skincare products contain harmful fillers, which will have a negative effect on your wellbeing. Show your body some TLC and buy decent skincare products. Here are Puresha we are proud of our carefully selected luxury organic skincare and haircare products and if you have any questions of queries please do not hesitate to contact us at: sara@puresha.com or on 0845 652 2108

It’s also about time I treated myself properly and with Valentine’s day coming up I discovered an amazing organic eco-friendly Lingerie company called LuvaHuva and spoiled myself with some of their cute and sexy knickers. Starting at £20 a pair they don’t break the bank and I’m sure my boyfriend will love them come Valentine’s Day!

You will also soon be able to buy these knickers at Puresha as part of a limited edition Valentine’s Day Box including the choice of any Tsi-La Perfume, Babybearshop Pomegranate Lip Balm, a pair of Heather LuvaHuva knickers and a cute box of Organic Chocolate Hearts with edible silver leaf , made by luxury organic chocolate company Chococo – all for only £50! So get hinting to your hubbies and boyfriends to check out the Puresha website in the next couple of weeks...

Detox Diary - Day 6

Go on, treat yourself…

Almost there! At this stage I’ve saved some pennies at the supermarket because of all the fresh home cooking I’ve been doing, so I’ve decided to treat myself to a delightful organic vegetable box from Abel & Cole. Their award-winning site offers free delivery and a wide selection of fresh organic produce from vegetables to bakery items and even organic meat. The box was delivered straight to my door by Paul my local driver! They even have some great offers at the moment such as 20% off juicing boxes and 50% extra free on some meats.

My hair was looking a bit rough around the edges so I treated myself to a Hamadi Shea Hair Mask. I wrapped my hair up in a warm towel and left it on for a few hours while I watched TV. The avocado oil nourishes and leaves your hair feeling cared for, especially during these cold winter months when the wind dries out your ends…brrrrrr.

Breakfast – Porridge with organic ground cinnamon

Snack – Small handful of unsalted cashew nuts

Lunch – Homemade organic chicken, red pepper and brocolli salad with wheat-free noodles and a tamari dressing

Dinner – Homemade carrot, red pepper and ginger soup served with organic rye bread with smoked salmon and chives

TRY:

Keeping your mug topped up with Rooibosch Tea whilst at work instead of drinking freezing cold water as your body absorbs warm liquids better.

Detox Diary - Day 5

Oatcakes, Oatcakes, Oatcakes!

Ok well I never thought I’d hear myself say this but oatcakes are the food of the future! I carry them in my handbag and whenever I feel a little peckish I have one and I can already feel the hunger drift away. Oatcakes are a slow energy releasing food and at only 46cals per cake you’re laughing. You can even spice things up a bit with some homemade humus or low fat cream cheese if your including dairy in your diet. The naughty cravings for sugar are still there but the best thing is that your appetite disappears.

At this stage I think it’s time to treat myself, so I skipped on down to my local TKMAXX to see what they had to offer to help me feel sexy at the gym. They have an amazing collection of Gaiam yoga mats from only £7.99 in beautiful prints and bright colours as well as top brand gym gear. They also stock some great sports bras for less than half the original price! I was amazed by how far my money stretched, especially as we are all tightening our belts at the moment. So go on, treat yourself because there’s no point in hiding that beautiful new figure!

Ever caught yourself in the mirror mid-winter and thought ‘yuk I’m so white and pasty’? Well I was having one of those days so I put on the some organic, natural face tanner by Chocolate Sun. The all-natural ingredients means that you know what your putting into your skin and leaves you feeling healthy and glowing for days…Just what you need to complement your new healthy lifestyle routine.

Breakfast – Cup of hot fresh ginger tea (grate fresh organic ginger into a mug and pour hot boiling water, leave for 5 mins. If you prefer not to have ginger bits floating around use a tea strainer)

Snack – Homemade humus and celery sticks

Lunch – Roasted red pepper, courgette and aubergine with a raw broccoli and sugar snap pea salad

Dinner – Monkfish and prawn Thai curry with courgette, aubergine and pak choi. Served with brown basmati rice

Detox Diary - Day 4

Back to the gym… oooh it hurts! I haven’t been for almost a month. I can really feel how unfit I am but I have a surprising amount of energy nonetheless and i’m guessing it’s because of the diet. The oatmeal keeps me full right up until lunch and because I haven’t added any sugar my body slowly digests the oatmeal throughout the morning. I love this stuff! I’m even learning to enjoy it without sugar…great! What I’ve realised is that you can allow yourself a little slip up but you just have to make sure you make up for it later. Having the healthy meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner means that you can enjoy a little piece of chocolate if you really want. The best thing about this diet is that I have a much smaller appetite and didn’t even think about what I was going to have for lunch until 2pm! Whoopee… I’m loving it. Throughout the day I dabbed the Tsi-La Kizes perfume on the inside of my wrists, which gave me a real boost of energy. It is such a beautiful scent and the tiny bottle fits perfectly into your handbag and lasts ages!

Breakfast: Two Boiled Eggs and Smoked salmon with a squeeze of lemon juice and toasted rye bread soldiers

Snack: Miso Soup

Lunch: Baked potato with salad and olive oil

Dinner: Prawn stir-fry with white cabbage, red pepper, ginger and spring onion.

TRY: www.salad-recipes.co.uk - for delicious salad recipes that are easy to take to work in a tuppaware. I love love love the Crunchy Salmon Salad with Tatsoi

Detox Diary - Day 3

I must admit, I am beginning to crave some sugar. The excess yeast bacteria in your body makes you want to feed it so cravings for wheat and sugar are completely normal at this stage. However I better come clean and admit that I had some chocolate today… OOPS. I used to eat about two small bars a day so cutting out sugar was a big deal for me… So Jo my colleague suggested trying some restorative Yoga poses to help me to focus on my goal. One pose I particularly enjoyed was the Supta Virasana or Reclining Hero Pose. This pose stretches out your entire body and is said to aid digestion and menstrual pains. Perfect! I would also recommend listening to Radio Three which plays an intelligent mix of Classical music to soothe and awaken the mind.

Breakfast: Oatmeal with organic ground cinnamon

Snacks: Oatcakes with Homemade Humus

Lunch: Prawn and egg salad served with Rye bread (no mayo!!)

Dinner: Moroccan Chicken with Chickpeas, Corriander and Tomato. (see latest Waitrose recipe card)

TRY:

NEOM - Complete Bliss Organic Three Wick Candle - This candle is Sienna Miller's favourite for relaxing and unwinding.

Detox Diary - Day 2

I actually had dreams last night about the delicious healthy meals I was going to prepare today! A great start to the day. The wonderful thing is that you can actually eat on this diet; portion sizes don’t have to be small because what you are eating is all good. One great tip I was given by my auntie is that you have to make sure you still have some good fats like olive oil as your body needs fat as it plays a role in the metabolic process. Try dressing your salads with sesame oil and / or flaxseed oil (which contains high levels of Omega 3 Fatty Acids which help combat Cancer and helps to stabilise blood sugar levels.) Be careful not to use Olive oil for cooking as it can have a carcinogenic effect.

I drank plenty of organic Detox Tea throughout the day and nibbled on some Nairn’s Oatcakes if I felt a little peckish. In the evening I decided to treat myself to a full body home exfoliation using REN’s Ginger Revivo-Tonic Two Sugar Body Scrub which contains sweet almond oil known for its highly moisturising and soothing properties. I then followed this with the This Works enjoy really rich lotion which contains more than 8 exotic essential oils. It’s really important to moisturise during the winter months as your skin can get dry and irritated when going from the warmth of your home or office out into the cold winter air. Show your skin some loving!

Breakfast: Scrambled organic eggs with chives and rye bread soldiers.

Snack: Two Oatcakes with homemade hummus

Lunch: Hummus on Rye Bread and a large salad of beetroot, spring onion, rocket, grated carrot, cucumber and green pepper with a homemade dressing of 1 part sesame oil, one part olive oil, a squeeze of lemon and salt. (Sounds boring but it was delicious- all the flavours really come out with the addition of the salt)

Dinner: Roasted chicken with baked sweet potato and celeriac served with a chickpea, aubergine and red onion salad.

TRY:

Detox Diary - Day 1

So we’ve induged ourselves over the Christmas period and all we really want to do is continue along that seemingly glorious path. Unfortunately if we were to do that we’d end up with some serious tyres and muffin tops to contend with and frankly I’d rather nip it in the bud now. So what did we decide to do here at Puresha? A little Detox wahay! Just what we wanted for Christmas… but we’re doing it because we want to reap the benefits of the beautiful Puresha products we’re putting on our skin. After all a healthy body means healthy glowing skin. We thought you might like a little insight into how it’s all going for us and we’ve got some hints and tips that we’ve picked up along the way to help any other budding detoxers…

We've decided to do a mixture of the Candida / Macrobiotic diet which means no wheat, sugar, fatty meats, alcohol, coffee, fruit or processed foods. Sounds fun doesn’t it? We both suffer from Candida symptoms and thought it might be great to try it for a few weeks to see what difference it makes.

To read more about candida visit : www.candidablog.com/

The main problem I think most people face is finding good recipes. It’s so easy to resort to adding a processed jar of pasta sauce to our daily recipes for example… Some great sites include Gweneth Paltrow’s www.goop.com which offers healthy recipes and lifestyle advice aswell as www.edenfoods.com which offers hundreds of recipes from various diet choices. We also have a new recipe in every detox email so keep your eyes peeled. Detoxing doesn’t have to be a chore all the time…

Day 1:

My body needed some serious vegging-up after the last few weeks of food mahem so the trip to the supermarket became the highlight of my day. I wandered the vegetable isles and felt excited about the prospect of cleansing my body of the crap I had put in there. (It was good though tee hee) Mischief over, I placed every organic vegetable I could find in the trolley. I kept my teacup filled with delicious detox tea (see below) and drank plently of room temp water. I also used a couple of the best detox brands at Puresha such as the Duchess Marden Crème Cleanser and Patyka Face and Body Serum before going to bed and woke up the next morning with the softest baby-bottom skin. Day one over…phew that wasn’t so bad.

Breakfast: Porridge with oat milk and organic ground cinnamon

Snack: Celery sticks with homemade hummus

Lunch: Grilled garlic pork sliced over a salad of radishes, chicory, rocket, carrot and spring onion. Tossed with homemade sesame, olive oil and salt dressing. Adding a bit of salt really brings out the flavours in the vegetables.

Dinner: Chicken Strifry with red and white cabbage, cauliflower and green pepper with tamari soy sauce, ginger, chilli and garlic. Served with brown basmati rice. NB. Green peppers are most nutritious and brown basmati rice is the best to eat on this diet.

TRY:

Eleven O’Clock – The Original Rooibosch Tea – This is high in anti-oxidants and caffeine-free.

Clipper – Detox Tea – This has a deliciously refreshing raspberry/rhubarb taste.
